Pre-PA Virtual Shadowing: 02/15/2026 at 4pm PST (7pm EST) Pediatric Case Studies by Shae Johnston, PA-C
Pre-PA Virtual Shadowing: Pediatric Case Studies
Presented by Shae Johnston, PA-C
February 15, 2026 | 4:00 PM PST (7:00 PM EST)
This Pre-PA Virtual Shadowing session provides an engaging, clinically grounded look at pediatrics through real-world case studies commonly encountered in outpatient clinics, urgent care, and hospital-based pediatric settings. Designed specifically for Pre-PA students, the session emphasizes how PAs think through pediatric presentations while incorporating age-specific considerations and family-centered care.
During this live session, participants will:
Walk through common pediatric chief complaints (fever, respiratory symptoms, abdominal pain, rashes, developmental concerns)
Learn how pediatric cases differ from adult medicine in history-taking, physical exam, and decision-making
Understand how growth charts, vitals, and red flags guide clinical judgment in children
Discuss appropriate use of labs, imaging, and reassurance vs escalation of care
Gain insight into the role of a PA in pediatric practice and interdisciplinary teamwork
Ask questions about PA school, pediatric rotations, and careers working with children
This session is ideal for Pre-PA students interested in pediatrics, family medicine, emergency medicine, or anyone seeking exposure to caring for pediatric patients. The case-based format mirrors real clinical reasoning and helps students confidently describe shadowing experiences during PA school interviews.
