Eric explained concepts in clear effective terms using various methods of studying tools such a color coding to cater to my personal learning style. He was a great tutor who truly cared for the quality and work he put out that manifested through me in my own study time. Eric has been the most supportive, accommodating, and helpful tutor I've ever had. He completely transformed my level of understanding and skillsets in o chem. I am a pre med undergraduate and faced my biggest challenge with ochem. Eric's help rebooted my confidence in the ability to tackle this class and be successful at it! He somehow manages to explain/teach very complicated subject matter in an understandable way. Eric has been a great tutor in providing me one-on-one explanations regarding organic chemistry. Honestly, this pandemic has been a challenging quarter, and I believe Eric did a great job of utilizing online Zoom sessions to its fullest potential. After being tutored by Eric for two quarters, I can say that he is one of the best teachers I have ever had. He makes learning chemistry, a task I have struggled with in the past, much more understandable and enjoyable by always been extremely supportive and encouraging during our tutoring sessions. Having Eric come on as my tutor for the middle part of my ochem journey has really allowed me to understand the concepts at a much more understandable level. I really liked that he was encouraging the entire way and uplifting even when I made a mistake on practice problems. I remember after completing my second exam he was willing to look over my exam and check to see if there were any points I should receive. He went ahead and told me that from his perspective as tutor I should be recovering some partial credit. And I DID! If anything, I really appreciate that he always took the time to check in with me (from ochem to just ordinary college stuff) and guided me along the way to get to the correct answer. I felt the seasons were very productive and an efficient use of time.

Eric’s tutoring services helped me to gain the confidence I needed to excel in the classroom. Eric is very well organized and exceptional at explaining difficult topics. One thing that I really appreciated was that he a created a space in which I felt comfortable to ask questions. He was like a coach and cheerleader all in one. He knew how challenge me without making me unconfident in my capabilities. Not only did he help me pass a class that I once failed, but he helped me gain skills that will assist me in future courses.

Eric, is an amazing tutor, the best yet! Every session he taught me the foundation of specific concept(s) and also gave practice questions that he would correct. Eric is such a great tutor, he explains concepts really well which has allowed me to excel in my chemistry class. I was able to understand many of concepts and homework problems. Getting tutored by Eric has been a very rewarding experience! I have definitely gained a deeper understanding of o-chem and his personalized teaching style has been very beneficial to not only my performance in the class, but to my confidence in o-chem as well!

My grades have improved tremendously and I’m very happy that I have done well in these classes as organic chemistry is very crucial for me to understand for my major. Eric is very patient and a great teacher. A memory with Eric is in my group session(s) as how funny he is and how comfortable he makes you feel in every session. I believe that Eric was a huge reason why I was able to get a passing grade. Prior to Eric’s tutoring sessions, other students had told me the organic chemistry would be one of the hardest classes to take. I was truly scared of taking these classes but working with Eric, he makes the concepts become more clear. Eric has been incredibly beneficial to my journey through organic chemistry! It was about two years since I last looked at chemistry, and I knew that organic chemistry would suck. Sure enough, two classes in and I was hopeless and overwhelmed by concepts that made no sense. I reached out to Eric, and he was more than happy to help! His constant encouragement, positive attitude, and ability to simplify complex concepts saved me academically! He is incredibly patient and is willing to break down any topic you throw at him.

Eric’s enthusiasm and compassion for teaching is what got me through anatomy during undergrad! Eric is very willing to go the extra mile so that his students succeed. Not only was he patient and encouraging during open lab, he also fostered a collaborative and non-judgemental learning environment that made us feel comfortable and supported as students. I appreciated how he took the time to try and know us all individually, whether it was during lab, a study session, or a lab section outing. He is an incredible lecturer, his study sessions made the material digestible and easy to understand. The midterms were a breeze because of them! After undergrad, Eric wrote a letter of recommendation for my graduate school programs, which I’m beyond grateful for. He was cooperative and responsive throughout our whole correspondence, and doing so made the application process less stressful.

Having Eric as my tutor was the best decision I ever made for college! I am on the premed track and I really wanted to have a good understanding of organic chemistry, not just a good grade. With Eric, I was able to accomplish both! Knowing I was on the premed track, he was able to give me extra tips on how to navigate through my courses and other aspects of college, even though he was helping me with only organic chemistry. As someone with ADHD, my learning process is sometimes different than a student who doesn’t have ADHD. Eric has always been patient with me and has ALWAYS made sure I understand concepts to their full potential by utilizing different teaching techniques until we found the best one. If I ever needed last minute help, Eric was quick to text me or call me and would always follow up in our next session. I will be continuing my organic chemistry courses with Eric as my tutor and I am so grateful!

Eric was incredible! His understanding of the material made it so much easier for me to pick up the concepts and succeed on my exams. He was very open to discussing any topic that I needed help with and often tied things into our hour to make everything more comprehensible. (2023) By tutoring with Eric, I have become passionate about learning ochem with Eric. Although ochem is a very tough subject for me, I was able to enjoy learning materials and easily comprehend all of the concepts because he makes sure to let students understand the materials rather than just forcing them to memorize them all. He provided practice problems, practice exams, and even has a website with downloadable PDF files and integrated videos to practice and prepare for my organic chemistry exams. Furthermore, he is also great advisor related to health careers and pre-med/pre-PA. I was bit discouraged because I think that I am not outstanding student compared to other peers, and was not confident myself to challenge myself for health reacted career pathway. However, Eric has been great mentor and advisor for me that I never should give up, and that I should always take each day one step at a time. By listening to some of the experiences he goes through, I am exited to keep continue my path, and hope I will accomplish my dream as part of the health-related career, such as MD/DO/PA or other health profession.

Eric has tremendously impacted my grades and learning ability with his fantastic teaching style. He would not hesitate to go over any questions I had even if they were asked more than once! Eric would always make the learning environment super friendly and respectful, and never once did I feel embarrassed or shy if I didn’t know an answer to a question! This was my second time taking OChem because I unfortunately did not pass the first time and the difference I felt this time was massive. Not only was I so much more confident going into the exams, I actually began enjoying it. Having Eric as my tutor made this quarter and taking OChem a whole different experience than the first time. Eric always taught the material in a very understandable way and was able to answer all my questions. When the material was really hard for me, he spent more time on those parts and offered me supplemental materials. I cannot thank him enough for helping me this quarter and for all of his support.

He helped me understand the basics of Physiology and he was able to make good problems for me that I can quiz myself on. He is very understanding and patient for his students to understand his material.

Eric impacted me in many various in a positive ways, and I highly appreciated for his support. He does not force me to memorize metabolic pathways to earn good grades. Instead, he focused most on my understanding of how each metabolic pathway or mechanism works and how they connect to other ideas. He tutored me in organic chemistry, biochemistry, GI physiology, NPB 110C (physiology), and Anatomy and I was able to get good grades on those classes.
He sometimes also gives me good advice on what he would have done if he could go back to UC Davis as a student, and he guided me on which way would be efficient to take for my career.

Eric Roman provided me with lots of practice with the difficult subject of physiology, and our 2 hour sessions were very productive and helped me develop a deep understanding of the material that I would need for an exam level question. He is very flexible and I became a better learner for physiology with Eric’s help. Some questions that we would go over would literally show up in the exam, and I developed a deeper understanding with his tutoring.

I came to Eric struggling with being behind on material after being sick. Throughout the quarter he helped me gain confidence in the material I had missed and new material introduced. He made plenty of practice resources for me to work on my weaker areas. He has a positive and motivating attitude that helped me stay committed to my success throughout the quarter.

Eric was very helpful with teaching me concepts that I couldn’t grasp in lecture and provided me with a ton of resources that I could use on my own time. Eric is responsive, understanding and a good listener that really takes time to work on individual things that I struggled with.

Without Eric's tutoring, I would have had a much tougher time dealing with upper-division science courses. Each subject has its study style, and Eric knows these strategies well. I appreciate Eric's passion and motivation to keep me on the pre-med track when I had overwhelming emotions for this rough path and thought of giving up. Because Eric and I constantly had conversations, were on the same page, and cheered me on to get through it, I overcame all of the complex emotional feelings and continued my journey of pre-med. I can't say enough good things about Eric. He is a fun, personable tutor who genuinely has his students' best interest at heart. Organic Chemistry was not an easy topic for me and I struggled a lot in the beginning, but with his vast knowledge and flexibility he helped me understand and appreciate the topics. If I didn't grasp a concept, he wouldn't judge my inability to comprehend, rather he tried explaining from a different angle. If that didn't work, he had endless practice problems and helpful worksheets that we'd work through together until I could confidently and independently find the answer, and explain the reasonings behind it. The attention to detail that Eric showed, ensuring I could not only do the practice problems but also analysis the theory behind them, truly helped me excel. For the first time, I was able to help teach my classmates complex topics and work through problems demonstrating what I learned from Eric.

My favorite memory from working with Eric was a few months ago when I was studying for my second midterm of CHE118B. I was having a bad day and wasn't as eager to log on for tutoring as I usually was. Eric immediately noticed and we spent a few minutes chatting about my nervousness for the upcoming exam, and came up with a plan together of how to proceed for our scheduled hour. It was so refreshing to have someone work with me and my limitations, but still pushing me to move through my nervousness and get back on task. It was the perfect balance of respect and tough love.

I have followed and admired your trajectory as a PA student and the professional work you carry out in support of mentoring pre-health students. I am lucky to have had the chance to be assisted by you with my personal statement drafts. It really does help to have someone who knows little about me as a person to objectively send feedback on my writing. I enjoyed the direct and prompt communication and punctuality after learning of my projected submission (personal) deadline. Not just the feedback towards fortifying my drafts, but the cheering attitude after reading my many draft versions to encourage me and make me feel like I have what it takes to put this personal statement into my CASPA application and get an interview. That encouragement goes a long way. Your work ethic and mentorship will switch over to me doing the same for others for sure!

Eric has been someone I look up to in my journey as a pre-PA for years now. Eric was very helpful with my current questions about PA school and creating a timeline. We talked about GPA, PA shadowing, and LORs. Our call was little under an hour but i feel like i learned tremendously and I have a better idea of what my options are to build my application and when I should do them. Eric is the only reason I got an A- in CHE118C. Not only is he very knowledgeable about organic chemistry, but he frames the concepts and problems into digestible bits and pieces that come together to give me the clearest picture. He is always on time to the scheduled sessions and gives his undivided attention when tutoring. Also, he spends a considerable amount of time outside of the scheduled session to send me extra practice, helpful tutorials, practice exams, and other resources he thinks would benefit me. Eric has helped me so much with my personal statement for PA school applications! He made it flow a lot better and gave me better words to incorporate/to take out due to repetition. I would get tons of practice during our sessions, and Eric would take out few minutes each session to explain to me areas I had grueling questions on (I'm really sorry for asking so many questions!!). Even though Nasiri's exams were brutally difficult, I had more confidence walking into exams knowing that I had a better fundamental understanding of the concepts, and could attempt problems with a new set in mind.

With large classes like organic chemistry where it can be really easy to get lost in the material [don’t include this but I’m trying REALLY hard to not roast nasiri rn], Eric has been an invaluable resource by reiterating key points from each chapter, explaining any confusing details that were only touched on in lecture and providing extra practice problems to help students succeed on the exams.

I feel like Eric has a really solid understanding of ochem and I think any student would benefit from his help. However, I do think that because he took ochem at Davis and had the same professors as me this really helped to narrow down and produce similar questions that I felt the professor would/could ask. Therefore, I felt like the stuff that Eric was teaching was very Davis ochem focused and that was very helpful for me in understanding the concepts.

For instance, Eric, goes way and beyond for his students because he cares for his students to learn. He makes you accountable to learn what he teaches which helps you understand what he’s taught. Also, with doing group sessions with him for 10 weeks, my friend and I have learned from each other in each session because we would help each other see things a different way and help us visually see it. Yes, but I feel like Eric is mostly oriented with CHE 118 material at UC Davis. However, I was able to provide him the professors lecture notes and He was able to create problems from that material. Thus, he's able to really adapt to the material taught in class and teach it. So I would I think that as long as you provide material for lecture, he is able to teach it.

His main focus is to make sure that students fully understand the materials rather than memorizing the concepts. I was afraid about Ochem before I met him, and I now feel the subject is very fascinating. I am sure any student that receives tutoring by him will feel the same way too. He tutored me in all 3 quarters of organic chemistry at UC Davis. He is a longitudinal tutor and will be there to support you any day of the week, including weekends and nights. He is a PA student on clinical rotations, but makes adequate time to meet with his students. 10/10 recommend him to future students who need tutoring in organic chemistry who are pre-med, pre-PA, or other health professions.
